ARENA

How deep can you go?

ARENA is a mode of its own, on servers of its own. It is not the arcade in the lobby. This is where runs are won, lost and started again: waves of enemies in handbuilt arenas, a class that is yours and a depth you try to beat.

  • Up to 4 players
  • Three classes
  • Endless depth

Fight.

Waves come, and each one is a depth. Go alone or bring up to three friends. A ring on the ground and a message in the action bar warn you before every dangerous attack, so you can step out, jump or break the line of sight.

Handbuilt arenas.

Lamp Court, Moonwell, Ashyard: every arena has its own mood, and every one is built by hand. Copper lanterns, a silver basin, glowing slits in a dark yard. You learn each one by fighting in it.

  • Build your style.

Vanguard fights close with a shield. Ranger shoots from range. Warden heals and protects, and opens at level 5. Talents, two gadgets and loot decide what you become. A grappling hook, a shock grenade, a heal beacon: take what fits you.

Loot that matters.

Rarities glow when they drop. Every item shows whether it beats what you wear, and why, with a sign and a word, never only a colour. Worse items can be dismantled in one go, worn and locked items stay safe.

  • The rules do not stay the same.

Mutators bend a run: low gravity, glass cannon, blackout, double trouble, gilded tide. There are more, and you will meet them by playing. Every tenth depth a new shift begins with a new rule.

  • Want more?

Turn up the heat before a run. Enemies hit harder, and rewards and loot grow with them. Heat unlocks with your best depth, so nobody is thrown in too early.

Something waits deeper.

Every fifth depth brings a boss. When one arrives, your group is briefly protected and the camera stays with you. We will not tell you which boss comes when.

  • Your run. Your result.

Combos reward speed. After every run you get a result card. Clip mode tidies the screen if you record, with larger numbers, fewer chat lines and no flashes.

More, if you want it
  • 33 mobs, five of them bosses, 21 affixes, 18 gadgets and 18 mutators. Many you will find yourself.
  • Rarities, item comparison and an item score show whether loot is an upgrade. Worse items can be dismantled quickly, equipped and locked items stay safe.
  • Between waves a merchant sells healing, extra lives, armour and more. Coins come from kills and exist only inside a run.
  • Heat is optional extra difficulty that pays more. It unlocks with your best depth.
  • Level, gear, talents and cosmetics stay with you. ARENA has its own currency and no link to the HAVEN economy.
  • Cosmetics are only visual: hit and kill effects, number styles, auras, frames for the result card and titles. You unlock them by playing.
  • The result card appears in the game. There is no sharing on the web yet.
  • Leaderboards and Chronicle entries are opt-in. Hit points and damage numbers can be switched off, text size and high contrast are adjustable.

Right now

This mode is coming soon. There is no way in yet.

These three modes open together with the network.

The network itself is closed for invited testers while we test.

Built and tested automatically, not yet played through by people. Details can still change.
